Do you have what it takes?
Do you have what it takes to be married to a cop? I’ve been married to my LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) for 15 years and to be honest, I still don’t know if it’s going to work out for us in the end. Scary words, I know. Being a fairly optimistic person, I would like to think we’ll grow old together and sip lemonade out on the front porch while we curse the neighbor kids and reminisce about the good ol’ days, but reality is a hard thing to face. Will we make it? The statistics aren’t in our favor.
So, why keep trying? Why fight so hard every day to not only stay married, but to be happily married?
Sometimes, I honestly don’t know. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but like you each day, struggle to get through lonely nights, the missed meals, and the unexplained mood swings.
I hope to explore the many issues families of police officers face. Such a noble profession…it’s got to be worth it all…doesn’t it?
